While the Apple iPhone has created a true media frenzy, if you step back and look at the entire industry, with or without the iPhone, touch-screen mobile phones are big and getting bigger. The Samsung instinct, the LG Vu920, the HTC Touch are all selling very well. In a recent article at WirelessFoundation.com a figure of 230 million touch screens sold by 2012 was being quoted. Currently the number is about 30 million a year but because of the Apple iPhone 3g, the Samsung Instinct and the expected Blackberry Thunder (Verizon wireless exclusive) this is expected to start to accelerating very quickly.
